Key Commands and More

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

First off, we have some basic key commands working now. A special thanks on this one to Al and Man Mobile, who helped with the coding.

  • In encounters, hit the number of the choice you want. So 1 is the first listed choice and so on. Pretty straight forward.
  • In combat, hit the number of the technique you want (1 on the left and 5 on the right). You can change targets by hitting shift and the appropriate number. ` clears your chain, enter strikes, and backspace runs away.
  • Hacking works about the same way as appropriate.
  • There are probably a few screens it doesn’t work in yet, but I think I got the major ones.

We also have some bug fixes:

  • Corrected some issues with Dr. Mira being strangely nice to people who tried to kill her, which sort of makes sense combined with the issue where she wasn’t dying. Thanks for both, Llamaman!
  • Petrol Splash should be stunning your enemies instead of PHP. Thanks for the bug report, Batou!
  • You should no longer encounter hands after you kill the shaman. If this doesn’t make sense, don’t worry about it, just thank Al.
  • Also, we have some typo fixes thanks to Mag, Llamaman, and Argeth. Thanks!

Cheers!

Ho! Ho! Huh?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

On today’s special holiday episode of the devblog, we have:

  • We’ve added a personal touch to the Abominable Snowman leaderboard, revealing where you stand. Thanks for the suggestion, Man Mobile, and some bug finding from Mag.
  • Horned Snowmen will no longer use their ultimate “Turn your weapon into a Brain Staples Single” attack. Thanks for the suggestion, Mag and Deathknight.
  • Fixed up some icicle errors. Thanks for the bug report, Valera.
  • You now need to be in the Slags to give Hel her Christmas gift of a containment suit. Thanks for pointing this out Pyren and Vholes.
  • Larry’s extra-special gift is likewise better given in person. Good suggestion from a ways back, thanks to Mr. Green.
  • Thanks for some very festive typo fixes from Mag, Valera, Argeth, and Al.
  • Also, the Flying Eyes got an early Christmas present from yours truly.

Cheers!

Updates

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

I have some updates to report, but also a bit of forewarning:

There is some scheduled downtime on the server from 5-11pm server time on Friday. That translates into 11am to 5pm Central Time. Our hosts are moving some servers around in the data center, which potentially might take less time, but shouldn’t be more than six hours without catastrophe.

  • Added a “Last Hacked” in the left hand pane when appropriate. Thanks for the suggestion, Al.
  • Your current effects are now updated when you receive Fae Eyes or Ocean Eyes. Good catch, Soulmech.
  • New contacts now result in the Contacts link up top being highlighted. Good suggestion, Al and Juntao.
  • Corrected some errors with saving account preferences. Thanks, Morwen!
  • Also fixed up a slew of typos from Nyther, Man Mobile, Wyrd, Caradal, and Mag. Thanks!

Cheers!

Updates! We got updates!

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

  • Buffed Password Guesser so it can now take down multiple opponents. Good suggestion, Rykar.
  • Fixed a bug with that was giving Red Alert on random hacking sites. Thanks to Mag, Argeth, and Llamaman for helping me squash this one.
  • Overkilling an enemy in hacking will now show them as “dead” appropriately. Thanks Rykar!
  • Petrol Splash should now be working as intended. I promise :) Thanks to Pyren for and everyone else who’s helped with this one.
  • Added some new tidbits of information to the MBR Lab. Good idea, Argeth!
  • Also fixed up some typos from Mag, Man Mobile, dfmchfhf, Artie Effham,PaidPiedPiperPal, Pyren, and Fr00d! Thanks, everybody :)

Post GenCon Wrap-Up

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

So, between my long weekend and the beginning of this week I fixed a ton of bugs and typos. I apologize in advance if I miss something in the list, but it’s the most thorough accounting I have.

  • Fixed a bunch of early bugs within hacking. Thank you Rykar, Thrillhouse, Zelandoni, Nyther, Jick, Man Mobile, Blarghgh, and NX_Phoenix.
  • Folks shouldn’t be getting blank spaces in hacking tools anymore. Thanks to Mag and Man Mobile for reporting this one.
  • The special decompilers should work. Thank you RazielSonOfKain.
  • You can no longer get stuck on the second floor of the Slags tower. Thanks for the bug report, Llamaman.
  • Switching for a lower processor computer shouldn’t confuse the installation requirements screen anymore. Good catch, Harrakan!
  • The A student no longer decides he needs more Eclipse every time you talk about art. Thanks llamaman!
  • Made another stab at fixing Petrol Splash. Thanks Valera and JTN2002 for the testing!
  • Added some new dialogue options for Lo. Good call Serenity.
  • Dual Armored Vest is now function, thanks to RazielSonOfKain.
  • Fixed the grammar for equipping and unequipping items that start with ‘the.’ Thanks Shademaster00 and Rykar.
  • Added Data and Programs to the mall. Thanks Rykar!
  • Thanks to Cryptodynamic for doublechecking I’m not giving you those trashy drone hounds when you’re supposed to get lean, mean twisted hounds :)
  • Your X-Ray vision, although potent, no longer allows you to see Professor Evans through his door. Thanks Wyrd!
  • As it turns out, vats of acid are not filled with little dolls and dried fish are not made out of tarnished coins. Who knew? Besides Shademaster00 and Cryptodynamic, that is?
  • Also fixed a load of typos courtesy of Artie Effham, Edwahd, Sir Cheddar, Rykar, Thrillhouse, jetalynn, dfmchfhf, Mag, Zelandoni, Man Mobile, Jick, Wyrd, Borkman, and RazielSonOfKain. Thanks everyone!

Updates, Get yer Updates!

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

It’s time for another round of updates reports. Just a load of small stuff, for the most part.

  • Everyone’s favorite bum now gives more Techniques when you train with him.
  • Changing avatars now works properly in Opera and IE. Thanks for the bug report, fr00d.
  • Sending profits to your smuggler now works properly when hitting enter. Good note, Valera!
  • If you’re using the “Metros in Header” option under account options, it’ll now be hidden while you’re inside the Slags. Good suggestion, Lord Finisher.
  • The classic handgun recipe now displays properly. Good catch, Juntao!
  • The inventory screen will say when you have nothing equipped, rather than skipping straight into the list. Good suggestion, ManMobile.
  • Corrected an issue where multiple puzzle box moves would do the same thing. Thanks PaidPiedPiperPal!
  • The ordering of hideout upgrades on the hideout screen should be consistent across areas, regardless of what order you bought them in. Good call, Olaf.
  • Fixed a bug where area of effect attacks can cause too much damage under special situations. Thanks, Valera!
  • Also, thanks to Mag, PaidPiedPiperPal, and Wyrd for helping me squash some typos.

Status wise: I’m in crunch mode trying to get the first block of Survivors’ Quest content out before Gen Con rolls around. If it ends up being a trade between time and quality, though, I’ll put it off until after the Con.

Cheers!

Raft of Changes

Monday, July 13th, 2009

  • The Squatter’s Son quest will now give more feedback in the completed section of the quest log. Good suggestion, RazielSonOfKain.
  • Fixed another interesting wrinkle in Petrol Splash. It should stun consistently against more complex Techniques now. Thanks for the quality bug report, Harrakan.
  • Fixed a bug with the pitted thermos being replaced by a nonexistant item in drops. Good find, Llamaman.
  • Removed the vestigal credits field from the replying mail form. Thanks, Harrakan.

Updates

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Bunch of little updates today. Mostly been working on the Survivors’ Quest and exciting server issues, but found time for some updates.

  • There’s now better information for the Gang Log about your members finally getting control of areas. Thanks to Mr. Green for making me realize I hadn’t done this already.
  • Totally rewrote how Petrol Splash works. It should function as advertised now. Thanks to Harrakan and The Kitchen Sink for their good, detailed bug reports.
  • There’s now a ‘Modify Checked’ at the top of your inbox too. Good suggestion, Mr. Green.
  • Usable skills will now work properly even if you’re in the middle of changing capitalization or setting your gender. Thanks Sir Cheddar!
  • Going through Beta Reset shouldn’t kick you out of Chat anymore. Thanks for the report Mr. Green!
  • Typos hunted and eliminated thanks to Thrillhouse, Man Mobile, The Kitchen Sink, Valera, and PaidPiedPiperPal.

Also, in the department of vague patch notes:

  • Unearthly coins trigger text was occasionally missing some text, which should be fixed now.
  • Quantum Mechanics should now be giving headaches properly.
  • There’s now another use for Cups of Joe. Thanks for the suggestion Argeth!

In the background, I’m working on the Survivors’ Quest. There are two big blocks that I can push separately, so I’ve been hard at work on the first.

Also, I was just looking at the old blog posts and it’s been almost a year since Metroplexity launched. August 13th, mark your calendars :)

Cheers!

Happy Fourth!

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

Recovering from the festivities yesterday (yay! fireworks!) and working on Metroplexity.

A few updates:

  • If you’re in chat as the daily shutdown approaches, there’ll be notices at the 10 and 1 minute mark. Thanks for the suggestion, Sir Cheddar.
  • There is now an account option to make “Metros” appear as an option in your header. Good suggestion, Artie Effham.
  • Gang Messages now appear in the edit box if you want to make minor changes. Thanks to The Kitchen Sink for poking me on this one.

And some bug fixes:

  • Avatars will be awarded appropriately to those first entering Gang Warfare. Thanks to The Kitchen Sink and Zelandoni for helping me sort this one out.
  • Private gangs will now appropriately be private (they were displaying if you were whitelisted to any gang, not just that one). Thanks, Olaf!
  • Smugglers in the Slags and the University are no longer confused as to who’s where. Thanks for the testing Valera!
  • Petrol Splash should now set the other guy on fire when defending in Gang Warfare. Good catch, Starwed.
  • Mikhail shouldn’t get really confused anymore when you don’t have any Eclipse in your inventory. Wouldn’t have found it without you, Olaf!
  • For some strange reason, PaidPiedPiperPal keeps wanting his Gang Jacket combines to not turn into coffee grounds. Crazy, I know, but I keep fixing them anyway.

Also, a nice batch of typos from DudeAtHome, PaidPiedPiperPal, Argeth, Borkman, Man Mobile, and Al!

Big thanks to everyone for keeping up with bug reporting. I’m plugging away at the Survivors’ Quest. The main quest won’t be ready for a while, but I’ve got some goodies lined up to keep things hopping in the mean time.

Cheers!

Catch Up Caught Up

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Done with Origins and caught up on all the bug reports and typos from over the Con. I’ve got a pile of drop-dead awesome art from Puyo and am looking forward to filling the Survivor’s quest with it.

  • Evasion Power is now working properly. Great catch, Starwed!
  • Descriptions in the Mall should now come up consistently. Thanks to Man Mobile and Zelandoni for helping me sort this one out.
  • Asking the bartender “What’s the News?” no longer costs Energy. Thanks to Jick for the suggestion.
  • Extra warehouse security badges are now salvagable. Thanks to Man Mobile for the suggestion here.
  • Added some more University-relevant melee weapons, related to armory. Thanks to Argeth for the idea.
  • Added a pair of new avatars for the gang warriors out there.
  • Also fixed a bunch of typos. Thank you Valera, Happy Yeti, Man Mobile, PaidPiedPiperPal, The Kitchen Sink, and Shademaster00 for the help.

Also, rumors that Midgard was forced to return to its pre-Incident designs for the SD1 drones are completely without merit. Nothing to see here.

Cheers!
